July was a busy month as we kept our focus on improving the pet owner’s experience — ensuring BarkPass remains the easiest and most intuitive platform in our space. Like the best e-commerce platforms, we know that small, thoughtful improvements can have a big impact on usability. The easier it is for customers to complete their tasks online, the more time staff can dedicate to higher-value work.
By combining AI tools, UX expertise, and client feedback to identify and address pain points, we’ve made several changes that we believe will make many tasks significantly simpler:
Registration – Made the “Register” button more prominent to help new customers get started faster.
Update Information – Returning customers with an existing license or pass will now be taken directly to the “My Passes” page.
Update Documents – Improved the workflow so customers can update documents directly from the “My Pets” page, while still keeping the option on the “My Passes” page.
Renewals – Renewal emails now clearly identify which pets need renewal. Customers can select or deselect pets in the first step, license start dates will default to the renewal date, and reminder emails will stop as soon as the renewal is completed.
Additional Administrative Updates
Added Expiration Date to the Applications Report export
Enabled manual updates to Expiration Date based on security role
Separated first and last names to support smoother integrations with other systems
Updated phone number formatting — the first step toward adding SMS features to BarkPass
August’s focus will be communications, so stay tuned for more updates soon!
