As we look ahead to 2026, we’re proud of how far BarkPass has come, and even more excited about where we’re headed.

Reflecting on 2025: Progress Driven by Our Clients

2025 was a year of meaningful progress at BarkPass. Rather than chasing flashy releases, we focused on what matters most: listening closely to our clients and improving the platform one thoughtful enhancement at a time.

Over the course of the year, we delivered more than 30+ product improvements, shaped directly by feedback from both new and existing customers. These weren’t just technical updates, they were practical, operational enhancements designed to make day-to-day work easier and more efficient.

A major area of investment was communication. We launched mail merge capabilities, introduced SMS messaging, updated the customer portal to meet ADA compliance standards, and significantly enhanced the Messaging Center to support targeted, more reliable outreach.

We also rolled out important product upgrades such as quarterly recurring billing and day pass bundles, giving operators greater flexibility in how they manage memberships and revenue.

As we move into 2026, our philosophy remains unchanged: continuous, thoughtful improvement. We believe software should grow alongside its users. By delivering steady, incremental updates, BarkPass evolves naturally with our clients’ needs without disruptive “new versions,” painful migrations, or long waits for innovation. This approach keeps the platform modern, reliable, and easy to adopt year after year.

2026 Development Theme: Zero-Touch Transactions

While client-driven feature development will remain a priority, our overarching theme for 2026 is Zero-Touch Transactions.

BarkPass already streamlines many staff workflows, but there are still moments that require manual intervention. In 2026, we’re focused on eliminating those touchpoints through smart automation, freeing staff to focus on higher-value work and improving the overall customer experience.

Our efforts are centered on three key areas where automation can deliver the greatest impact:

  • Document review

  • Tag fulfillment

  • Access control (dog parks)

By automating these workflows, we believe the majority of BarkPass transactions can become fully touchless for staff, a major step forward in operational efficiency and scalability.

Looking Ahead

This is just the beginning. Throughout 2026, we’ll be rolling out these capabilities alongside many additional enhancements designed to help our clients operate smarter, faster, and with greater confidence.

Thank you for being part of the BarkPass community and for continuing to shape the platform through your feedback. We’re excited to keep building the future of pet licensing and dog park management, together.

Stay tuned.
